Autism Acceptance Month was founded in April 1970 by Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., a psychologist and autism researcher. He chose the month of April to coincide with his son’s birthday, as well as the start of spring—a time for new beginnings.
"Autism Acceptance means not passing judgment or limiting an individual's potential based on their outward characteristics. Everyone has personal challenges, and we need to see who people are and support them to reach their full potential."

" To me, autism acceptance is people in the community supporting one another. When a kiddo is having a meltdown, is stimming, or is trying to find the words to communicate their needs, that they are met with patience and support. Acceptance would be inclusive of all needs as opposed to judging those who process differently."
