Teri Hern

Teri Hern is a seasoned speech-language pathologist with over 28 years of experience in school-based therapy. She has dedicated the past 8 years to the Autism Academy for Education and Development (AAED), where she serves as a mentor to speech-language pathology assistants. Teri specializes in supporting students with autism, focusing on enhancing communication skills, social interaction, and academic success. Her approach emphasizes collaboration with educators and families to create inclusive environments that foster student growth and confidence.

Kym wilbur

 Kym Wilbur is your Arizona funding expert for families navigating autism. As a mom to an adult son on the spectrum, she combines firsthand experience with over 15 years of professional autism advocacy. Her success in securing resources for her own son fuels her passion for empowering others. As Funding Specialist for the Autism Academy for Education and Development, Kym has helped thousands of families secure the support they need. Known for her wisdom and compassion, she's dedicated to sharing her knowledge and helping families thrive. 

Anthony Thigpen

 Anthony Thigpen's passion for impactful storytelling began at age 13 while he was a paperboy, sparking a lifelong commitment to unearthing the stories that shape our world.  As a decorated Gulf War veteran, published author, and freelance photographer, he brings over two decades of journalistic experience to Autism Now News. His travels across diverse cultures fuel a global perspective on autism, while his personal connection to the spectrum drives him to explore its complexities with depth and sensitivity.  From hard-hitting news reporting for the Chicago Sun-Times Media Group to his deeply personal literary works, Anthony's writing illuminates the human experience of autism with insight and compassion. 

Christina Hunyady

Christina Hunyady-Potter is a dedicated Special Education Teacher with over six years of experience, bringing her passion and expertise to ensure that every student receives the support they need to thrive. Before embarking on her teaching career, Christina excelled in retail and corporate management, skills that now enrich her approach to education and leadership.


Christina is married and a proud mother of three children, one of whom is on the autism spectrum. This personal connection to special education deepens her commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.


Outside of her professional life, Christina is an enthusiastic plant collector and maintains a well-loved home library, reflecting her avid reading habits and constant pursuit of knowledge. She is also a memory keeper, scrapbooker, and photo enthusiast, capturing and preserving cherished moments with her family.


As an antique hunter, Christina enjoys the thrill of discovering unique treasures from the past. She and her family love traveling to cooler destinations like the Pacific Northwest and California, where they find inspiration and relaxation amidst the beautiful landscapes.

Tina Thelen

 Tina is a dedicated School Counselor in the Chandler Unified School District, deeply committed to fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student. With over 18 years of experience in education and counseling, including specialized training and experience with students on the autism spectrum, she’s developed a deep understanding of the diverse needs of children and adolescents. Her passion lies in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where students feel empowered to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.  She believes in building strong relationships with students, families, and staff to create a collaborative approach to success.  When you walk into her office, you'll find a compassionate listener and an advocate who will work tirelessly to help your child thrive. As a regular contributor to Autism Now News, she strives to share insights and resources that empower families and educators in the autism community and brings a wealth of experience to the table with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Master's degree in Cross Categorical Special Education, and School Guidance Counselor Certification. She’s passionate about promoting understanding and acceptance and believes that every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. Outside of her professional work, she cherishes her role as a wife and mother to two amazing adult children.
